The search tool allows drivers to find certified Medical Examiners by city and state, or by zip code. Interstate CMV drivers can search for and find certified Medical Examiners in their area, or anywhere in the country, from the “Home” page of the National Registry website. Interstate CMV drivers are required to obtain their physical qualification examination and obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC), Form MCSA-5876, from a certified Medical Examiner listed on the National Registry. Certified Medical examiners are required to submit results for every examination conducted, by midnight (local time) of the next calendar day following the examination. Once certified, Medical Examiners use the National Registry to upload results of CMV driver physical qualification examinations they have conducted. Certified Medical Examiners receive their certificate via email and are then able to begin performing examinations of interstate CMV drivers. Once FMCSA has verified the Medical Examiner’s test score and validated his or her medical credential or license, the Medical Examiner is certified by FMCSA and listed on the National Registry.
